Introduction!

Last Thursday we selected our teams for our semester-long Yo-Yo project. As part of 2.008, teams of students design and manufacture 100 Yo-Yos using concepts that we learn in class, such as injection molding, thermoforming, etc. Our team, named Around The World after our earth/space theme and the popular Yo-Yo trick, consists of six team members: Sam Castellanos, John Bolaji, Meaghan Fitzgerald, Morgan Gulliver, Al Mireault, and Christine Jiang.

During our lab section last week, our team went straight to brainstorming themes and ideas for our Yo-Yo. Some ideas we had included:
  • Boston
  • Batman/Two-Face
  • World and Space
  • LED Light-Up Patterned
  • Clock
  • MIT Dome

At the end of our brainstorming session, we decided to pursue an Earth and Space themed design with a rocket ship and moon piece revolving around an Earth (hence our team name). In the next couple of days, we will be using SolidWorks to model our idea and work out the design details. We're all excited to get started!
